It’s that time again! If you are looking for the best kids clothing, accessories and toys, then you have to come to the Babyccino Shop up event this Sunday April 23 and Monday April 24 at The Springs in downtown! Held once a year in Los Angeles, they feature some of the best children’s lines sourced from all around the world. I went last year and blogged about it HERE and HERE. It was an amazing event and I scored such amazing pieces that my little one is still wearing many of them a year later even though she is SO much bigger. For example, the GREATEST pair of drop crotch patterned pants from Over + Over, have become our new favorite pair of shorts! Or the awesome jumper from Mabo Kids, has become an equally awesome pair of elastic waist drop crotch pants. I know, it’s hard to picture, but here is the jumper from last year to help you visualize. Last minute easy Halloween costume and decor ideas

If you are anything like me than you know what it’s like to be going about your day only to realize that Halloween is four days away and you haven’t figured out your kids costume, let alone your own. And while I did have the foresight to get pumpkins two weeks ago, they sit on our kitchen table uncarved and threatening to go soft like a preteen girl at a One Direction concert. So like the true procrastinator that I am, I have only today begun to kick into real holiday gear and cheer so I can finish out Halloween strong. Feng Shui is the ancient practice of designing your space to improve the flow of energy or Qi (chi) in the home. Here at Plum Joyful we are dedicated to a healthy lifestyle. And although cocktails aren’t exactly healthy, moderation is and sometimes you just want a cocktail! Fourth of July is days away, the weather is warm, and the idea of a cocktail amongst friends underneath a sky filled with fireworks is too good to resist. I also have been wanting to learn how to make a proper cocktail, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity. I turned to cocktail specialist Leandro DiMonriva, owner of The Vintage Bar Company. Vintage Bar Company is a cocktail catering company specializing in high end custom cocktail menus. He suggested this Mezcal cocktail as a great companion to a balmy night of fire works. Mezcal is Tequila’s sexy, smokey cousin. This drink adds a little sweet and a little spice to the smoke for a complex delicious drink your friends will love. I love Earth Day. I think everyday should be Earth Day, but for now I will settle for just the one day every year. I even got engaged on Earth Day. It wasn’t planned, it just worked out that way, but it’s made Earth Day even more special for me. Nature is my church. It is where I go to find peace and balance. Where I go to find inspiration. Where I go to find myself when I’m feeling lost. It has healed me, soothed me, nurtured me and saved me more times than I can count. I would be lost without it. And yet, like most of us, I take it for granted. I take for granted the fact that it will always be there for me. We think we can take what we need from the Earth and it will keep giving and giving endlessly. I wish it were that simple but we know that it’s not. Something has to shift before it’s too late. Favorite brands + shops from Babyccino Shop Up

The Babyccino Shop Up was this past weekend and it was awesome! I found a bunch of new brands and stores that are in perfect line with the Plum Joyful philosophy of a healthy, vibrant and stylish life. Here is a recap of the wonderful event for those of you who didn’t make it out, and some of my new favorite things for baby. First off the event was held at the spectacular Lombardi House, both in their amazing barn and around the grounds. They had amazing refreshments for everyone in the family. Moon Juice for mama, Incredible Acai breakfast bowls from Amaze Bowls for Papa, and Sprinkles cupcakes for baby Plum ( I didn’t let her have one, but she was perfectly happy with the Organic Guava banana fruit pouch from Happy Baby that they were also giving out). De-cluttering for Spring: Detox for the home

Now that we have been giving our bodies some much needed TLC by gently cleansing with green smoothies, it’s time to start to turn our attention to our home. Spring is a time of awakening and new beginnings. A time to shed all the old dusty baggage from the long winter that has weighed us down. The sun is shining, the air is warm and sweet, and you can’t help but feel hopeful. But just as the energy of your body can get stagnant and sluggish, so can the energy of your home. I know for me winter tends to make me lazy. I’m more prone to want to stay indoors and veg out and unfortunately you can see this reflected in my home. Add to that a new baby and it’s a recipe for accumulating clutter. What was once a beautifully curated and minimal entryway is now a catchall for mail, bags, keys and shoes (we are a shoe free house, so our entryway is literally littered with shoes at the moment).
