It has played a major role in the healing of my gut and immune system, and I am a true believer in it’s benefits. I talked about it in THIS post, but I thought that it really deserves its own page. People are catching on to bone broth’s healing properties  and it’s starting to go mainstream. Bone broth is different from regular stock in that it is simmered for an extended period of time (from 6 to upwards of 24 hours), and is therefore extremely rich in flavor as well as nutrition. There is something so nourishing and healing about soup. We use it to heal ourselves when we are ill, or to warm ourselves when we’re cold. It is good for the body as well as the spirit. So for those who are curious about wether bone broth may help them, here is some more information on why bone broth is so good for you, as well as my own (and favorite) chicken bone broth recipe. The more we learn about the gut, the more we realize that the digestive system and its function has a major impact on ALL the major systems of the body. It can effect the health of your endocrine system, your cardiovascular system, and if you read THIS post, you know it can even affect your mental health. I cannot stress how important gut health is. We have become a nation of overly sanitized, germ phobic, sterile people and it is harming our health in very serious ways. If you suffer from ANY gut issues ranging from heartburn, GERD or IBS, to more serious conditions like Colitis or Crohn’s disease, then understanding your gut health and the role bacteria plays is absolutely CRITICAL. The same can be said if you suffer from autoimmune disorders, allergies, mood issues such as depression or anxiety, brain fog, headaches or skin issues. Your Gut is the seat of you health. It is the main hub that signals your immune function. We now know that our gut bacteria or microbiome are actually responsible for turning on genes! So for example, if you carry a gene for diabetes, just having the gene does not mean that you will actually get diabetes. There has to be an environmental trigger to activate the gene. Gut bacteria can often be this trigger. If you haven’t read my post on the Gut Microbiome, that would be a great place to start. We are learning more everyday about the role our gut plays in our overall wellbeing, and the […]
